Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager – Construction
Locations: Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden
Company Overview: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager for a prominent construction project spanning multiple locations in Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. As the HSE Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the implementation and adherence to all health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the development, turnup, and operational phases of the project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major construction initiative while promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Role and Responsibilities: As the HSE Manager for this multi-location construction project, your primary responsibility is to ensure the seamless implementation and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in line with company policies. Your role involves a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to:
General HSE Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on the implementation status and adherence to HSE requirements, applicable regulations, and scope of work references.
- Liaise with vendors and contractors to identify and implement corrective actions for identified deficiencies or issues.
- Evaluate vendor and contractor hazard assessments and contribute to their improvement.
- Share lessons learned and best practices within the HSE team and partner teams.
- Participate in Google-specific training and initiatives as required.
- Collaborate with the global HSE team to develop and execute global programs and initiatives.
- Conduct focused field audits, document verifications, and interviews as necessary.
- Maintain strong relationships with various Google teams and stakeholders.
- Travel to project locations as required to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
Development Phase HSE Responsibilities:
- Review proposed design documentation for compliance with HSE requirements.
- Verify and interpret permit applications and permit conditions.
- Conduct compliance audits and provide recommendations during pre-handover phase.
Turnup Phase HSE Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to operational HSE requirements.
- Provide on-site support and behavior-based safety observations during turnup.
- Conduct operational readiness audits and report compliance deficiencies.
Operational HSE Responsibilities:
- Perform regular operational inspections and audits.
- Conduct periodic compliance audits and report findings.
- Provide on-site support and behavior-based safety observations during operations.
- Interface with on-site teams to deliver accurate and timely HSE performance data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
- Ability to conduct audits, inspections, and assessments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing HSE concerns.
- Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
